Houston, Texas’ Desecrate The Faith are back with their second full-length entitled “Unholy Infestation”. This is definitely a release that lives up to its name! It desecrates your ears and infests your brain with 12 tracks of unholy brutal death metal that is the epitome of nastiness and evil! Comatose Music has been releasing some really brutal albums lately and this one might just take the cake. This is a band that doesn’t mince words, riffs, or anything else. You get nothing but brutality of the highest degree here. There is no coming back from what you will hear. Prepare to lose all grip on reality as your sanity erodes from track to tack.

The music is just absolutely sick and unbelievably brutal. Probably my favorite aspect of the music is the drumwork. Mike Caputo is absolute insane behind the kit. The blast beats this man produces are brutal and precise as hell. It’s hard to tell is anything is triggered, but even if there is, this guy is an absolute talented beast. His style reminds me of a combination of “Butchered at Birth” and “Tomb of the Mutilated” era Cannibal Corpse and “Legion” era Deicide mixed with a little Alienation Mental and Disgorge(Mex). The riffs are executed with razor sharp precision and are reminiscent of a mixture of Malevolent Creation and Morbid Angel with a grindcore edge. Jonathan Bayliss and Tyler Shiery are very proficient with their instruments and, while these 12 tracks showcase their talents, they leave you knowing that they have only scratched the surface of their playing abilities. Coleson Cowden handles bass duties and does so with the depth of a seemingly bottomless chasm. The melding of the riffs and the bass lines is incredible and add an extra level of overall heaviness to the album. The whole sound here is insane. You can take every emotion that the genre of brutal death metal represents and multiply it by 10. On top of that, add the combined vocal abilities of John Hull and Coleson Cowden, and you have a one way ticket to hell. These guys give you their all on this release. This album is my introduction to the band, so I don’t know what their “Disfigured Arrangment” release sounds like, but I can safely say that if it sounds anything like this one does, then they are continuing on their path to conquer the world of brutal death metal.

I am quite impressed with these guys. This is about as perfect as a brutal death metal album can get and I am already looking forward to what they have to offer in the future. These five guys have just taken this genre and made it heavier than it has ever been. I bet that this will be one of the most talked about releases of 2017 as well as for years to come. This is highly recommended if you are into any of the bands mentioned above as well as Dying Fetus, Aborted Fetus, and Devourment. This is a band that deserves any and all support you can give them. You can’t expect any less when a band gives you music of the highest quality based on traditional standards of their genre.
