Get off your ass with Blasphemous Creation

Hey Issisac how you doing? I'm trying to get caught up on my email. Here's some questions for you sorry for taking so long to get with you. So how are you doing?
Goin allright I'm at work right now and bored as hell.

Blasphemous Creation finally released your debut album "Diabolical Kingdom" on Apocrypha Records, what the response been so far?
Well we didn't get any advance copies of the album from the label so there aren't any reviews in magazines yet but the fan response is really good. We've sold alot of copies and t shirts and everyone really likes the album alot.

For quite some time the band been trying to get hooked up with a label now you feel some type of satisfaction that it finally happened?
Yeah it's cool to finally have support from a label that believes in what we are doing. We worked hard and it finally paid off.

Tell me a little about Apocrypha Records how the band got hook up with them?
Apocrypha Records is a small metal label from San Francisco, CA that offered us a record deal when they noticed that we had won the 2008 Bloodstock Open Air Unsigned online competition in the black/thrash/death metal category, securing us a slot at the festival. Though we did not get passports in time to fly to England to play it, which really sucked by the way. Regardless they still signed us anyway. We are only the 3rd band to be signed to this label so they are just getting off the ground. It will be interesting to see the label grow over time.

What kind of deal Blasphemous Creation recieved from the label?
We received a 4 year deal where we can release as many albums as we want in that period with options to renew when it's over, which is pretty cool.

Who's handling the distribution in Europe and Asia?
Apocrypha Records is handling worldwide distribution for the album and I'm not sure if they are going to be hooking up with other distributors yet but I will look into that.

You also did a Dismember song "Of Fire" that's pretty interesting that you chose to do that song, why that song?
Dismember is one of our favorite bands that I have been listening to since like 93 when I was 12 years old. I remember buying the Pieces EP where all their severed heads are tied together by their hair on the cover and inside Matti Karki is holding a bloody heart in his hands. Fucking classic! I didn't know who they were and I bought it because of the cover. When I popped it in and listened to it I was amazed. So we decided to cover them since they are a big influence on us and "Of Fire" I think is one of their most powerful and moving songs.

You also added some songs from the previous demos why's that?
The reason we did that is because the original recordings were so horrible we wanted to give those songs some justice with a decent recording. Also we didn't want to just throw those songs away and never play them again so we put all of the songs we are keeping on the first full length album. Most of the old demo songs were rearranged and renamed and the solos and lyrics were changed as well. For instance the song "Lake Of Fire" was changed to "Burn In Hellfire" as that is a more fitting name to go with the lyrics. The next album will have all new songs on it.

Is the band planning on doing any mini tours to get the band's name out there?
Yes we are, we currently have one booked in February for Santa Cruz and Las Vegas. We are also playing a big show down in L.A. In March. It sucks that we can only play on weekends right now because of our jobs. It would be nice to make enough with the band that we can quit and be a full time touring band.

Why so messed up? The band recieved critical praise from internationally known zines like Metal Maniacs and Beyond The Dark Horizon but these label; rather sign all these shitty bands while good talented bands suffer that's bull shit to me.
Yeah there are alot of talented bands but the bigger labels are just looking for $$ signs in bands and mostly sign what is trendy. Once in a while they will take a risk and sign a band like us. We did appear in some big magazines but that just isn't enough. You have to sell shitloads of merch and albums and play shitloads of shows to get your name out. Then eventually the labels will discover you. Sitting around and sending them demos will get you nowhere. You have to get off your ass and play some fuckin shows and tour.

I feel these labels are always looking for the next cash cow which is total bollacks cause there's some worthy talent out there.
Again that is true but they are businesses and they need to stay afloat. If they had nothing but true black metal and thrash metal and death metal bands they would go bankrupt. They need the pussy bands to make money. It is sad that most people do not listen to true metal. Although Metal Blade just signed our friends Lightning Swords Of Death from L.A. Who are a bad ass black metal band and put them on tours with Behemoth and Kreator so some of the big labels still sign good bands. Again it has nothing to do with how good or talented you are it's how hard you work. In most cases though it's how trendy you are.

One song that really got my attention is "Ripped In Half" cause the riffs remind of Iron Maiden.
That's cool but Iron Maiden was never an influence for us. None of us even listen to Maiden really but I guess that just means we have good writing skills haha. We try to make all the songs as melodic and catchy as we can but still remain brutal. We always try to write good riffs that are memorable.

What are are the band plans far as 2010 goes?
We are going to play as many out of town shows as we can and sell as much merch as we can and then go on tour in late summer. After that we will start writing for our next album.

Is there a chance of Blasphemous Creation playing in shows in Texas this summer?
Yes we are planning an 8 show tour sometime in September or October. We will definitely hit up Texas. Hopefully Beyond The Dark Horizon Events will hook us up with something.

Thanks for you, I really appreciate you taking the time to do this interview. It's been a honor and pleasure to talk to a true warrior of the old spirit of metal.
It's been a pleasure to talking with you as well metal brother. Hails!
