Molesting your beloved with Argharus

Argharus are full of misanthropy, nihilism, sacrilegious morale drawing the picture of their nature. Music is the nature of life and form of resistance - mock, destroy, kill... They claim the derogation of life cult, denying the western morality code and unfolding the malign side of mankind...

Will you give the readers a little history of the and how long Argharus been together?
The history of Argharus starts in winter 2004/2005, when our main line-up formed and guitarist I1 joined the band. With the arrival of our latest member the style of music changed and first essential contributions to band history, such as first ever live appearance and first record in professional studio were made. The music itself changed into more technical/interesting side, in the beginning we played primitive Darkthrone, early Armageda like Black Metal. Our first record, split album “Sonitus Caeli Ardentis” was released in spring 2007, after that we had a line of album support concerts here in Lithuania. At the end of the same year we signed with our current label Inferna Profundus Records. In 2008 we had our first appearance abroad in Estonian metal festival “Haard Rock Laager” as support act for Swedish act Watain. This gig brought us some recognition from abroad. The remaining time that year was left to create the material for our debut full length. At the beginning of 2009 we had only 3 concerts overall, because we wanted to finish/add final touches for our debut album. Just before the end of all debut album labour we had a line-up change, live/session bassist Demonas was added to our formation.

Has there been any line-up changes since the bands formation?
As said earlier a live/session bassist was added to our main formation. The reason for that was that we wanted our vocalist 7 to focus only to his vocal roles.

If so how this line up differ from the band's previous line ups?
We haven’t had any more than mentioned above,  one line-up change in Argharus history. In general we look negative/sceptic towards any member vicissitude.

Argharus released "Pleistas" on Inferna Profundus Records, how well the album is doing so far?
Our debut “Pleistas” is doing quite well so far, because our label Inferna Profundus is serious and cooperative label, which does all the promotional work for us very well, so we can only tend to our music creating and delivering aspects.

Have you seen any reviews of "Pleistas"? And what has the reaction been from the press?
Yes, we have seen reviews of “Pleistas”. As always, there are various reactions towards it. One can read almost all of them in our official site -→ www.myspace.com/argharus in the News section.

I been listening to the CD for awhile I like it very much. Even though the songs are in your native language.
All of the songs from our debut have different story line and/or concept behind them. The title of the album and title song “Pleistas” is hard to translate to English, but the word itself means a thrust forward and tearing something apart. Songs contain such themes as human sexual transgressions, molesting your beloved (“Dievopi”), a gift one man can give to another for free – spreading various diseases (“Mano ligos – tavo ligos”), alchohol, drugs (“Krecianti kontrole”), brotherly grave (“Brolisko kapo sindromas”), nothingness (“Viskas perniek”), attitude towards others (“Prakalba I atmatas”).

Is it easier for you to compose the song in your native tongue as oppose to composing them in English?
One of our goals is to remain a Lithuanian Black Metal act, so I guess composing songs in our native tongue is one of the options for that.

What were the band's influences when Argharus first formed?
Pessimism, death themes. Resistance against spiritual fattening, raising death over life. Pre-christian values. Death cult in general.

What Argharus been doing in support of the album far as touring goes?
Everything we are concerned about is how to create and deliver music. All other support/promotion/gig booking and etc. tasks are done and solved by our committed label Inferna Profundus Records (www.myspace.com/infernaprofundusrecords, www.inferna-profundus.net).

Doing the days of being under the communist rule was it hard to metal album during that time?
It was a very harsh time for everything/everyone what was from abroad, western Europe countries, USA or  non communist countries. Communist regime thought all that was wrong. So playing and releasing metal, rock, jazz during that time was very hard.

What the metal scene like under the totalitarian rule of tyranny?
One can refer to metal, rock situation in fanatical regime countries of nowadays, we had the similar situation back then.

You think the metal scene is much better now than what it used to be?
The condition of today’s metal scene isn’t too much better or worse than it used to be in my personal opinion. People just had different options and opportunities. In general, I could describe metal scene as a volatile entity with different options from those people used to operate in earlier times.

Argharus has any new material for the next album??
We have some material for the next album, but there is still much work to do until we will give these songs publicity.

I would like to thank you for taking the time to do this interview I appreciate it very much once again thanks.
