Schlager music is too heavy for Thornesbreed
Founded in September 1997 by André [git, vox] / Nick [git] / Eric [bass] / Barth [drums]
March 1999 - Recording session for the rehearsal tape called ’Sunburst MCMXCIX’
Please give us a short introduction of yourself?
I am Andre 24, guitarist and shouter at THORNESBREED. The band was founded back in 1997 by Nick (guitar), Eric (bass), Barth (drums) and me, but since 2000 it has only been consisting of me, Stephan (guitar) and Barth (drums. We are still searching for a permanent bassist.
Where does Thornesbreed stands for? What is the goal?
There is no special goal that we try to reach. We just play grim, fast and technically sophisticated Death Metal. That's also what THORNESBREED stands for: grimness, wrath, misanthropy and blasphemy to be expressed on a high level.
Why do you play the brutal shit and no Schlager music?
That would be too heavy for us.
Is Preaching The Sin the first recording? If not what did you done sofar?
No. There has been a rehearsal tape named ’Sunburst MCMXCIX’ and a first studio tape named ’Suppression Of Desire’ both recorded back in 1999.
And why did I get a shitty promo package (xerox cover, no songtitles)?
What did you expect? We have given away more than 100 promo CD-R's with Xerox-cover. The tape is pressed 200 times. We are not stupid, we do not give away all the original tape copies. That is reserved for those who buy it and keep it as a demo which as a several emotional worth. There were too many rip-offs, not everyone is as good as you. On the other hand side your job is to judge about what we play - so did you hear it or not? There's no loss of quality on that ’shitty’ promo.
What is the thrill to record something? What is your exitment when the recordings are finished?
We like what we play. And we want others to hear it. Those who are into this kind of extreme metal. Otherwise it is a great feeling to hear the result of our work and it is exciting to hear it after recording, cause it always sounds like somebody else is playing. Usually I hear it and the experience while playing is another one than the experience while just hearing.
Do you listen to your own recordings at home?
Sometimes, just to hear what we did once and what we play now, just to compare the progresses.
What is the best till now what Thornesbreed achieved?
A gig with mighty ASPHYX (r.i.p.), our demo tapes and an offering for a deal.
Do you have any plans for the future or just waiting what to come?
We are going to record our debut-full-length-album which will be entitled ’The Splendour Of The Repellent’. It will contain 30-40 min of devastating and very fast and very dark Death Metal. What is to come then.... we'll see.
Why do you wanna get wellknown? For the money? To spread your name?
Have I ever said that we want to be well-known? I guess no.
Do you think a blind person could play in your band?
What a question. Yes, if he still is able to play and shares our imaginations.
Is Germany a nice country for brutal DM bands? What could bands expect when they come?
Sometimes I think the image of the german extreme scene abroad is better than reality. There are some good bands and clubs here, but the real underground bands, even if they may the be very good, don't need to expect a huge crowd.
Did you already played live in other countries? What was the best and why?
No, unfortunately not. The problem is that no one books a band when he has to pay a lot of money just for the gasoline costs, when the band is quite unknown as we are. And we are absolutely not willing to pay hundreds or thousands of euros for playing a tour with ’big’ bands.
Think you could live outside Germany? What country would you prefer?
Norway. I have been there several times and I fell in love with that country, its landscape and wideness.
Could you remember when bands like Destruction, Kreator, Living Death,Assassin began? Do you think that impact will never happen again?
I am too young to remember the time when these bands began. But I think you cannot invent the wheel again.
What about the old bands reunite and try it again? Fooliness?
I cannot judge about all without knowing the background... But in general I want to say that it's not good to re-unite du to a new upcoming of a music style. That's just business.
Do you have some metal heroes from the past?
TIAMAT, EDGE OF SANITY, METALLICA, SKYCLAD.
Last rites?
