Decreation - Flesh Eater

Decreation are a relatively new Death Metal band from Finland formed by the members of Pyre of Hypocrisy (guitarists Frank and Tape) in 2022 and over the last few years have recruited others like drummer Tomi who was also formerly a part of Pyre and later Heikki of Amongst the Ashes and Pekko of Infected Priest. Their debut EP “Flesh Easter” is very short, but features a mix of styles similar to that of Deicide, more recent Bloodbath, certain David Vincent Morbid Angel songs, and even bands like Jungle Rot. There is always a thumping rotting groove present in the tracks, and while the EP doesn’t really hit one the ear like a freight train the mid paced chug that holds throughout is enough to satisfy all around; one will probably just wish there was a little more to give.

Tracks like ‘Where Is Your God Now?’ have some fury in the guitar speed, but it really the vocals that carry the music is they switch between the deep growls and the higher pitched shrieks/ snarls. Definitely in the forefront of the mix along with the guitars, expect riffs and bellows galore. While there isn’t really a super fast pit starting track on this EP, Decreation’s mid paced grooves such as on ‘Human Like Animal’ is easily accessible for both new and old fans alike. Much like Torture Killer’s approach this near mix of Death n’ Roll style chugs along without any mercy or sign of slowing down.

Even some spoken samples are thrown in the mix to make things interesting. While this brief effort doesn’t bring anything new and truly stand out amongst so many other releases out there, the basic formula will be enough on “Flesh Eater” to satisfy any fan of Death Metal in general whether they like mid paced chuggers with rhythm or force fed vocal spewing that isn’t over produced. It’s enough to satiate until the full length album comes.
