Anger Management - Beyond The Threshold Of Pain

Anger Management are geared up to release their debut, 'Beyond The Threshold Of Pain,' and it certainly lives up to its name. Combining thrash with hardcore and even a bit of death metal, the band offers an aggressive five tracks. Songs like "Lifelong Suicide" feature rapid chugging riffs with aggressive growled/ screamed vocal; sometimes the overlapping of them sound like pig squeals but the music doesn't really touch on grindcore territory. Other songs like "Show Your Anger" leans more towards the hardcore vein with thicker chugging riffs and 'siren based' solos. The drums are a bit odd here because there are some parts where they sound almost like they 'click' rather than the usual audible beat, but its only a rare moment or two. "Fear And Self Loathing" combine groove and thrash with a gritty atmosphere, and adds a bit more with the death metal vocals combined with the hardcore grunts. "Ignorance Is Bliss" is the most thrash base, but at the same time extremely repetitive with the constant rapid chugs in the same note. Despite this, as a whole, this debut shows promise for Anger Management and sure hasn't calmed them down with their output or crushing attitude while still getting in a few licks.
