Avulsed – Ritual Zombie
"Ritual Zombie" is the 5th full length album, beside some demos(eps) from the spain death machine Avulsed. On their official website www.avulsed.com can you find a really good and interesting biography.
The album starts with an intro which is very melodic and powerful. Mr. Dave Rotten´s absolute unmistakable grunts start at track number 2. The track sounds Avulsed like and offers old school death metal, with classical spain guitar influences. The sound rocks, but when the vocals are joining, the music looses some power. I think the reason for the loud vocals is, that Dave Rotten is not using any voice distortion. You got the songs some rotations of "Ritual Zombie". Excellent drumming, top guitar work and good songwrting. The 10th track on the album is a Death – 'Zombie Ritual' cover, also well done. All in all a very good album, old school as hell, banger riffs, and Avulsed typical, but not my favorite album from the band. (check "Yearning For The Grotesque").
