Bloodthirst - Zadza Krwi
Bloodthirst are a Thrash Metal band from Poland who tend to mix the elements of Death Metal within the pattern of their drums and a bit in the vocals, which involve a bit of a harsher snarl than usual. After numerous demos and split albums the band released their debut back in 2007 with 'Let Him Die,' which took a strong stance against Christianity. While the album was catchy and enjoyable, the entire Satanism theme of the music didn't bring anything new to metal fans because so many bands had done it before (Deicide, etc). With their latest EP, Bloodthirst attempt to do something slightly different. For one, this brief offering gives numerous songs and lyrics and Polish, an adventurous move considering all their other works were done in English. As far as the music goes, the sound is pretty solid, with the drums actually leading the charge in their beatings and the guitars shredding away with the bass behind them in "Przeklnij Zycie." The vocals still drip the same hatred and violent tenacity that made Bloodthirst so ferocious on their first album, and there even are a few melodies interwoven into the verse passages. Other tracks like "Unicesttwienie Duszy" are more the 'stop n' go' kind of rhythms, aiming for catchiness as opposed to being overly fast or technical. Here the tracks are a lot more generic sounding, but easier to follow. Overall, the production is clear enough for everything to be heard so it doesn't feature that hard and heavy distortion that tends to blot everything out on the older Thrash Metal albums. Fans who have followed the band will find the EP just as good as the band's previous works, while new fans may find it a push to explore the other more anti-Christian work, providing they can understand the lyrics of course.
