Bombs Of Hades - Death Mask Replica
Bombs Of Hades have stepped on the gas since their last effort and gone a touch further back to their crust roots. The opening few tracks are a nihilistic assault mixing d-beats with blast beats and everything in between. When they get to ‘Burning Angel (Uhuru)’, then things start to get really interesting. Bombs Of Hades slow things down, try out some sonic audio violence then kick back into life with what you will expect from this band. This does show for me much more artistic license and a no fear approach to their song writing, thus this is a pleasing phenomenon.
As you perch yourself ‘On Pillars Of Madness’ you are reminded of the crusty death metal influence, as does the reminder of the tunes. A track like ‘The Venom’, well this is just a touch of the nasty that you really crave from such a sub-genre with its punked up attitude and rotten mix as the track plays out.
The band are pushing themselves and it stands out a little more to me than their previous release "Atomic Temples" ever did. Fans who may have strayed should come back without the kicking and screaming treatment. These gents know how to destroy a slumber party and as a fan you can rage along with "Death Mask Replica" without a second thought whilst scorching the very ground that you are standing upon.
