Bombs Of Hades - The Serpent’s Redemption

This is this Swedish bands latest release, these guys originally started as a crust punk band and whilst they have retained this gnarly edge, they manage to combine this with the typical sunlight studio Entombed sound. I would not say they are a mere copycat, far from it, with this punky edge BOH take you into areas that are fitting of their song title, like ‘Crawl Away and Bleed Forever’. The spectacular start to this album leaves your ears bleeding and you as the listener will be left with not a moment’s notice to catch your breath.

To say this album is dirty would be right, more in the Bastard Priest vein than anything more polished of the Entombed vein. Once the album is in full flow you are in the path of a juggernaut. This third album does prove a band in development, there is certainly an element of quality control evident, there is restrained madness, still this does not dampen the overall listening experience, what is does for me is commend BOH for delving deeper into their art and performing tracks that really mean something, rather than throw away aggression that some of their peers have been guilty of to date. BOH have variation, they are not like the glut of copycat bands doing the rounds of late. BOH through Jonas Stålhammar, whom is notable for his bass work with genre forefathers God Macabre/Macabre End and also his vocal duties with The Crown and Utumno have a crusty d-beat influences SweDeath stroke of class in ‘The Serpents Redemption’ and whilst you may not find this as memorable as some genre classics, you certainly won’t be disappointed by the albums energy and overall hard edge delivery.
