Breathin God - Crossing The Human Mind
Formed in 2004, Breathin God released this demo in 2008, showing a brief display of what they could accomplish. Combining the wildly electric riffs of Pantera with meaty metalcore chugs and a blend of harsh and clean vocals, this four track demo certainly shows promise. "This Way" offers some melodic metal in the vein of Killswitch Engage with harsh snarling and bits and pieces of clean, harmonized vocals. They aren't anything revolutionary or exciting, but the music still sounds pretty good for a demo. "Reasons of Today" has more of a rock influence in the sense how the clean vocals dominat the song, and the solo involved is spastic and energetic. The drums are sometimes lost in the mix of everything, but are rapid and add great tempo without being too monotonous. "Starting Again" is an ironic piece as it returns to the form of the first track- heavily metalcore influenced and more space for the harsh vocals with the clean vocals soaring along with the rest of the music. Finally, "Redemption" is the closer, but it sounds just like the last track, "Starting Again." It's a melodically hard track, with some of the best clean vocals the band has to offer, but to list a track so similar to another also limits the band's potential.
Most metalcore fans will dig this, and with more tracks and work Breatin God surely will becoming a strong, if not dominating force, in the metal world. Their musicianship is good, and the vocals, while not being the most original, are balanced. For fans of As I Lay Dying, From Autumn To Ashes, Five Finger Death Punch, and Shadows Falls.
