Brutally Deceased - Dead Lovers' Guide

Brutally Deceased sure have their Dismember worship down to the nil; they even do a cover by the legendary death metal band. Similar to their idols, this Czech based band uses the same 'fuzzy distortion' around the guitars for an almost 'underwater' feel to the riffs to make everything murky and mysterious while at the same time not losing any bit of ferocity. The vocals are deep and also- surprisingly- much clearer than the rest of the music; this can be a good or bad thing because it tends to set them apart from the rest of the music. However, fans of Grave and Dismember will love this band because they sound exactly like them, even if they are a bit one sided.

The one sided bit of the music is the fact that every track here is the same. From "Lustful Sodomy...." to "A Life Once Aborted," fans will have a hard time discerning the difference between tracks save for many listening to the opening riffs. But, every blastbeat once the music has gotten by the one minute mark will sound just as furious as the next. While it is good to see Brutally Deceased basically take the best of former death metal bands and perform music akin to their style at maximum velocity, there also comes a point when the music tends to burn out on the listener, especially if it has all been done before. Basically, one has to really LOVE the sound of Dismember in order to get the most out of Brutally Deceased's debut.
