Buried - Oculus Rot
Directly from Rotterdam, the Netherlands, here comes these Buried... band active with this monicker since 2013 and reached their first full length with this "Oculust Rot".
Behind the name Buried we can find the voice and rhythm section of former members of Pyaemia and Disavowed. With this work the guys wanted to try their hand at something new without falling into too many memories of the old bands they belong to.
"Oculus Rot" is an album that immediately takes a position in the death metal vein, old school yes but with many tricks and inserts of modern metal and one of a kind. There are many similarities with bands ranging from the American music scene (Revocation) to the European one (Decapitated above all).
Well built album in terms of songwriting and well played by every single member of the band. A truly brutal voice makes everything even darker and heavier. From the opening 'Retribution' to the final 'Tenebrous Worm' there is a stinking and heavily death metal air. As I said before, there is no lack of modern and technical interludes that perhaps see in 'Leech' their most relevant expression of the whole album.
Definitely an album to be listened to several times to understand every part of it and thus enter the mood of the band. If you are tired of the usual things try listening to this "Oculus Rot". Discreet and recommended work.
