Cancrena - Fears

Thrash band from Italy that sound as they are influenced heavily by Pantera. And when I say heavily influenced, I mean especially the vocals and guitars. The vocalist sounds sooo much like Phil Anselmo, complete with the background howls that build like the howlin' wind across the Texas plains or perhaps the Italian plains (do they have plains anywhere in Italy? Probably not, oh well). Yeah, Cancrena got killer guitar sound also with great riffs, screams, squeals that sound like sirens and flashy solos that would make Dimebag proud. Yeah, the drummer ain't no Vinnie Paul but good effort.

Stand-out tunes would include "The Truth," and "Hollowing Myself." The ballad, "Black Angel" ain't that great. The attempt at soft vocals doesn't work so well but once he gets to howlin' and growlin' it sounds all right. A little experience touring would tighten these guys up a bit and if they could manage to obtain a good producer that would help also. I'm sure we'll be hearing a lot more from Cancrena in the future.
