Carmina - Carmina

France's Carmina was founded back in 2001 and since then they released a demo, a 4-way Split tape and a Split single with Morgue. This self-titled EP was unleashed via Rewolucja Records last year and features 7 songs with a total playing time of about 24 minutes. Downtuned guitars meet mainly blasting drums and deep vocals. The musical structures are quite progressive and not just the standard shit. Seems like the guys spent lots of time in their rehearsal room to breed some excellent riffing and impressing drumwork. Carmina reminds me of Immolation and similar acts: they know how to handle their instruments and create a massive whirlwind of fine technical Death Metal. The production sounds ok and breathes the filth of the underground at any time. Carmina is surely a hidden treasure, but the guys should be recommended to everyone who's into underground Death Metal or the before mentioned bands.
