Carnivorous Voracity – The Impious Doctrine
Forged in the depths of Spain, Carnivorous Voracity are not shy in the slightest when it comes to delivering the utmost brutality in their music. This being their first full length after the well-received EP titled "Debasement Incarnated" in 2011, it has shown that this band has certainly crafted a punishing record, that not only delivers the slams, guttural barks and insane drumming that brutal death metal is known for, but also the technically proficient side of technical death metal. Throughout this album, there are many instances of riffs that could easily be seen on a straight up tech death release, as well as vocal styles that appreciate all forms of death metal in the genre. Carnivorous Voracity have successfully blended what seems to be a clash of tech, slam and straight up death metal in "The Impious Doctrine" that is very much so, an album that reeks with brutality and stellar musicianship.
Vocally, the front man is insane, Pathology’s "Awaken To Suffering" album comes to mind when finding a similar sounding vocalist, the current vocalist at the time being Jonathon Huber (former member of I Delcare War and Pathology). I bring this up because Huber’s vocals were insane, they were ridden with the most disgustingly brutal gutturals one may hear, and by god was it incredible. It’s an honour to say that this album has vocals that easily match up to the sound and ferocity that this album had, so I praise the vocalist for having such a menacing and guttural assault in this full length release. The other instruments I must praise too, drums are brutal, the guitars play a variety of riffs from sludgy slam sections to more “shreddy” riffs found in tech-death and the bass is very much heard through all of this carnage which was fantastic!
So I end this with saying, people, if you like your metal brutal, heavy, malicious, technical and likely to start a one man mosh-pit in your own room, then I do in fact recommend this release for you. Brilliant job from Carnivorous Voracity on their first full length \m/ for fans of Pathology, Cytotoxin and Abominable Putridity.
