Cemetery Filth - Screams From The Catacombs

Tennessee’s Cemetery Filth are on a path of absolute destruction with their "Screams From The Catacombs" EP. Recently re-released on cassette by the awesomely godly Unspeakable Axe Records, this version truly adds the final nail in the coffin of absolute underground vibes. Even though there are only 3 songs on this EP, every one of these songs is extremely powerful and they will have you flipping this tape over and over again. The added bonus is that all 3 songs repeat on both sides! No need to wait for rewinding! This is straight forward, in-your-face, flesh-ripping, sonic obliteration done in the old school fashion and if you do not have this in your collection then you need to get it as quickly as possible! I have not heard anything this barbaric in the old school form since I first heard Grave’s "Into The Grave". A definite feast for the ears.

The riffs on this EP just shred everything in their path over slow to mid-tempo rhythms and it will definitely take you back a few years. Truly influenced by old school American death metal bands of the late 80’s and early 90’s, but also there are a few other foreign influences and vibes as well. Some may notice an ever-so slight Asphyx vibe, while others may here a dismember vibe in the riffs, but I am going to give it all to you in a nutshell. Take the riffs, the drumming, bass and vocals and it sounds like a cross between Autopsy’s "Mental Funeral" album and Nirvana 2002’s "Disembodied Spirits" demo. I mean, seriously, just imagine the awesomeness of that. Now realize it has come to pass in the form of Cemetery Filth’s "Screams From The Catacombs".  I am patiently waiting to see what else this band has in store and if this EP is any indication of what the future holds for this band, then let it be said that they are the uncrowned kings of death metal. Played passion and determination but with no compromises.
