Cirith Gorgor - Visions Of Exalted Lucifer

Cirith Gorgor is an amazing apocalyptic black metal creation hailing straight out of the glorious Netherlands and with all the hellishly wicked black metal which spawns out from this part of the world, it is starting to make me wonder if this is where the core of the abyss spins hmmm...

Having been around since '93 Cirith Gorgor are not new to the black metal scene and actually came together during it's core foundation of the beginnings of black metal's never ending up rise branching out strong even till this day. This is a band who keep forging through always keeping active within the underground scene and their 2016 album "Visions Of Exalted Lucifer" is proof of how strength increases with time and age brings depth and precision to one's music. "Visions Of Exalted Lucifer" is an album of depth and articulation. The cover art is striking and the tracks within this fine work of art are mini master pieces of the creation in whole.

This is an intense listen and I love the melodic dance of the brutality found here. This album is tight and extremely well put together, don't think that the mixing could have been better and there are plenty of change overs and little surprises here and there throughout this work. There is much of a strong fantasy influence underlining these tracks and well for those of you who did not know, this band's name stems from J. R. R. Tolkien's novel The Lord Of The Rings and if the movie soundtrack were to allow room and be open to include black metal to it Cirith Gorgor certainly most definitely would have to be the band for it and especially with this latest album "Visions Of Exalted Lucifer".

From the first track right till the end this album doesn't stop, meaning it is blunt, hits you hard and you haven't realized that you had not taken your last breath till it's over so basically you could be dead and not realize it till the music ends lol!

The composition found here is a toxic waltz of faultlessness. The riffs are fast and well the guitar work is altogether impressive and the vocals scream torture and torment. Drumming is pounding, speedy and what I would term as being a new age of tribal. The only track which sort of throws the listener off to spin in another direction would be the 3rd track titled 'Of Black Dimension', this track takes you down a notch to another underworld level which holds a bit of gloom and doom however the clear female vocals which are like a ghostly storyteller's voice keeps your head above the mist. This track lends the feel that you have entered another zone and are listening to another album and theme but then as soon as the track ends you are brought back into the brutally and reality of the artistic torment of what you originally were listening to. I feel that this little musical switch up is a good thing to make sure that the listener is aware of their senses instead of overwhelmingly numbing you out completely into shock.

I love the varying tempos found here and I can say that this album keeps moving you up, uplifting yet not happy go lucky if you know what I'm saying.
