Corroded Flesh - Demo I

Corroded Flesh are from Sweden, and this two track demo, is their first attempt on music as far as I know. I really couldn't spot anything else about them on the internet, apart from some names and the tracks. No band page or anything relative. A really well hidden band. Either they are slow on creating web pages, or they just need their privacy. Anyway, what I got is what I got so... Here we go. Corroded Fleshs aspect in death metal is the aspect that goes with their country's tradition. The Swedish death metal sound! Groovy rhythms that get combined with melodic leads, dual line vocals (growling and shrieking), and drums that keep this whole thing together with groovy and tight performance, which consists of, groovy beats, in a slow tempo, unaware of blastbeats and stuff like that.

'Bleeding Soulless' is the opening track and it sets us in the Swedish death metal mood instantly. The song structure is simple. No exaggerations on the riffing section and a very tight performance from all the instruments, always based on the groove and not speed or any other fancy stuff, like the super soloing or the super fast speed and so on. Just groove here and it really is all that is necessary. The second and last song of this demo is called 'Rotting Inside', and it is following the lead of the first track. A bit better on the refrain in my humble opinion, but still both songs are certainly a very good example of what this band can do. It really is not something you've never heard before, but they are definitely a band to make your time pass fast and worthy.

The only bad point to all this is the sample section. I am a big fan of samples, but I kind of disliked the way they used them. They felt a bit strange. Felt like they were just there to fill some gaps. Or maybe the combination of their music with samples doesn't fit so well. Anyway, screw my nagging on samples and concentrate on the music itself. This is a very decent effort and it leaves high hopes for the continuation of their course, which if it is as I think it is, based on this demo here, we will be talking about a new hope rising for the Swedish scene. The collectors should hurry to grab a copy cos it is extra limited to 80 (and I have number 14). So to all the quality collectors out there. Hurry up lads. And as for the rest, give it a shot and I am sure it won't disappoint anyone!
