Crypitic Tales - VII Dogmats Of Mercy

Black-Death Metal from Poland. Having existed since '89 Crypitic Tales have managed to kick out 5 albums and have shared the stage with some of the biggest acts in the Polish metal scene. Having been through some slight line up changes over the years Cryptic Tales current line-up stands as: PIOTR KOPKO (rhythm/lead and classic guitar, vocals), JACEK FALL (rhythm and lead guitars), JAROSŁAW MACIUSZEK (drums), MATEUSZ BERNARDYN (bass),BARTLOMIEJ FILIPIŃSKI (keyboard).

To be honest I did look around the net for I have never came accross this band prior to this review and I was shocked at some of the horrible reviews I was finding which mostly dealt with dissing how the band's photos looked.. WTF! To me who cares what the band looks like and who care what who's opinion is about Polish bands if you don't like them then don't review them right? If I am to judge Cryptic Tales by their images in all fairness taking their genre and long life holding of the band into consideration their image is typicial and again who cares, I have seen some new bands looking pretty faggoty lately but have never commented nor judged the music based on this.

The music of "VII Dogmats Of Mercy" is very well produced and tight, great musicianship here and even though these tracks can be standard they work for what this band is all about and fit the name Cryptic Tales perfectly. The lyrics are grim and the music has a heavy dark cloud over it. Sold sound and awesome precussion with very decent riff work. Love the growlling vocals as well here.. despite some of the crap I have seen posted around the net about this band, this actually is one of the better bands I have heard in awhile, I liked them so much that I did add them to myspace page which is rare for me to do.

The tracks here are long enough so you will get plenty of music for your money and there is not a boring moment to be found on this album. Haunting, chilling, ripping right through your bones I give "VII Dogmats Of Mercy" a 4/5 aside from my review I say to ignore what you may find on the net and look this band up, give this album a shot am sure that you will not be disappointed.
