Cutterred Flesh - Torture Is Medicine
I don’t think I know that many bands from the Czech Republic. Surely this is simply because of issues of distribution to the States. But I am very glad that I have gotten to listen to Cutterred Flesh’s TORTURE IS MEDICINE. The CD opens with a very cool high pitched electro sound for less than a minute. The noises collect and get more noisy until…
The guitars and drums explode out from under the listener on a cool named track, “Barbecue I Ss-18 Satan.” I want to shed some special light on the fourth track, “Discovering The New Dimensions Of Suffering.” The guitars, though ultra distorted and heavy, ring in my head like something from classic rock, something like Black Sabbath maybe or even an element from Deep Purple. Except much heavier. Then the folds of human voice flesh and skin from the drums envelop the audio space and create a truly brutal song. It just seems like all the elements of that track are supposed to go together exactly how they do.
Plus, Cutterred Flesh has some of the best song titles in the business. Names such as “Poetry Of Cutting Tools,” “Puppets Of Human Entrails.” and “Girl In My Fridge.” Are these not the best? I think Cutterred Flesh has fabricated a project in TORTURE IS MEDICINE that almost loses itself in its explosion and for the sake of sick metal art, that is about as good as it can be.
