Daylight Dies - Lost To The Living
Daylight Dies is a project started by Jesse Haff and Barre Gambling in 1996. The direction they were going with the music is the doom side. When you look at their logo it reminds me of the album "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" but that apart.
"Lost To The Living" is their third full length and playing 9 tracks with an average time over the 5 minutes. The doom Daylight Dies is playing is not the very slow one but they add more tempo to the songs. A very big plus is that they add a real dark and melancholic atmosphere to the songs. Not too depressive but you can feel the tragedy. Guitars (electric and accoustic) are doing gloomy riffs with nice soloing with grunt vocals that are sounding desperate with sometimes a clean vocal part.
The strength of Daylight Dies is the diversity in the melody and atmosphere. Although the melancholic melody it breaths a lot of atmosphere. Think of old Paradise Lost, Opeth or Katatonia and you are in your direction.
