Decimation - Anthems Of An Empyreal Dominion
Decimation are a goddamn brutal band hailing from Turkey! To be honest, i dont know if ive ever heard any bands from Turkey before but there ya go, I have now. When i stuck this cd on,on my cd player by jove i was surprised. Now, its worth mentioning that these guys are on Comatose music so even with this in mind you kind of know what your in for. Decimation play a form of death grind that can only be described as "Suffocation worship". Now i know that wont appeal to all of you out there but to this reviewer, its right up my street. There are hints of other bands but Suffocation is the dominant one!
The production here is thick and not over produced which is rare thing these days. The drums here are very natural in sound and not overly triggered which bands nowadays seem to wholeheartedly embrace which to these ears sound shite. The riffs and breakdowns
are very catchy and are surefire to be stuck in your head all day. I promise you will be humming it to yourself as you do your daily chores! The bass sits beautifully in the mix and has an almost piano like clunk tone to it. The vocals are guttural as guttural could be although not to the extent where its all gurgled. The vocals are quite pronounced despite being guttural which is very cool. The songs are very well executed here to utter precision.
If anything, my only gripe with this cd is that the vocals dont really change too much in tone and dont really have that much dynamics but the song writing on offer here is superb. Ilove the guitar tone here too
This slab of immense death metal is mastered by Colin Davis which kinda explains its absolute powerful delivery. Normally, I would recommend a track or 2 here as a choice cut but this cd slays, it all needs to be heard. Im taking 1 mark off this purely because of its somewhat lack of originality but dont let that put you off one bit! A belter!!!
