Degradation - Juggernaut
This four piece thrash metal band hail from America and this is their first full-length album, following their EP release 5 years ago. Their rather melodic thrash metal is an attempt to revive a scene that in some quarters is long dead.
The album start is very formulaic, sticking with the key changes relevant to thrash, however it’s not very fast or very hard, and neither are their vocals. It feels like very run-of-the-mill music, and would be suited to thrash fan if they don’t mind it being more melodic than rocking out. There is substantial skill flowing within the band, I just don’t think that they manage to get hard or fast enough to really be considered fully thrash metal.
This formulaic music flows throughout the whole album. The only really good thing I can say is that all of the musicians and the vocalist are highly skilled. The only really decent song on there is their cover of Executioner…Slayer of Light. Its fast, it’s hard and it’s harsh and it’s a shame that the rest of the album doesn’t take this as a thrash benchmark and work towards it.
