Descendency - Generate The Genocide
Descendency, huh? What does the word descendency really mean? Well, the Wiktionary (if you even count that site as accountable) has it's definition like this;
Descendency - Noun
-descendancy (countable and uncountable, plural descendancies)
-(uncountable) The quality or condition of being a descendant.
-(countable) Descendants considered collectively.
To me and technically according to the definition of their name above they are part of a lineage; ie descendants considered collectively. A lineage that traces back to ancestral and more modern roots on both sides of the pond.
A lineage that includes some of the greatest and most innovative thrash(thrash/death) bands from all over the world to influence mightily into this young band's musical heritage. With audible reverence paid in touches that come close to the likes of the Bay Area's leader's of the second wave Death Angel and the great Slayer, Germany's best Kreator, the almighty Swiss Coroner, some Texas crossover love in D.R.I., Germany's other great Sodom and the early work of the amazing Brazilian's Sepultura. Not to say they are stuck in the past there is also some a line that runs through the modern masters as well. Including the likes of Toxic Holocaust, Warbringer, Municipal Waste and Merciless Death.
All of that to say that Descendency are a modern day thrash metal band that pays homage to those that came before and are really damn good at it. Generate The Genocide is a pure thrash(thrash/death) metal album through and through. It has all the right hallmarks, tempos, changes, solos, vocals, everything to make true, energy pumping, thrash metal album. And that's all any of us are asking for. You don't have to break the mold to be great, you just have to be true and genuine with this type of metal and your love will shine through in your output, and it has here. It's not groundbreaking stuff, it's just done really, really well.
