Digression Assassins - Heavy Waters

This time it's the turn of the metal/progressive rock Swedish band Digression Assassins, formed in Stockholm in 2005, they are presenting their fourth studio album, called "Heavy Waters", the band is currently formed by Andres Breuer Torres on drums, Zoran Bronco and David Catala on guitars, David Hardenfalk on bass, and Mads Konan on vocals.

With compositions that hovers between the absolute madness and melancholy, we find an extravagant work, very well produced and well played by these guys, all excellent musicians, who are not limited at all when the goal is to unleash the imagination. In these times when many bands are driven by established stereotypes in every musical genre, is to be greatful that bands like these, are still capturing today our attention with their music, made directly from the combination of mind, heart, and ability.

Both the rhythm changes as the ups and downs are a constant throughout the work, in songs like 'Queen', track that opens the album, we met some very typical "out of tempo" in progressive music, and wich are perfectly executed, so as an unexpected picking' job on the guitar very highly qualified for the occasion.

In 'Grasp', for me the most successful composition of this proposal, we are flooded into a feeling of overwhelming melancholy, mixing heartrending distorted sounds with clean strings that reminds me of a citar, and of course, their compatriots Tiamat.

The following song is entitled 'Trinity', and we can classify it as the most aggressive, in which the "out of tempo" becomes prominent again, as well Hardenfalk work on bass.

And finally, we have 'Tunnel Vision', where the instrumental part is dominant, a well-chosen song to close the work.

Although I know that in this kind of style is better to leave the listener wanting for more, rather than spread too much, in my opinion, it is too short. For progressive lovers, you can not stop listening to this effort!
