Disasterhate - Mirroring The Abyss

This is confusing death/thrash from Italy. Starting out quote solid, the duel style vocals lead to confused arrangements and disjointed ideas, not only between tracks, but within some of the tracks also. ‘Blank’ is a pure tranquil piece of music, something that Anathema would produce, whereas ‘Desecrated Sick Reality’ is a monster thrash groove at it beginning, it then degenerates into blackened filthy nastiness. So this sound quite cool to some readers, but for me, it’s a real racket and doesn’t make the releases flow, or rather lack of it any better.

‘Day Of Zero’ has a real vocal anger, strange almost witch chanting group vocals, a groove metal riff, a death/thrash vibe, its all over the place, even some melodic black metal melodies lead to much amusement as I try to figure out where this track is going. Musically it is in the ball park, its extreme, tight and well played, but I really don’t care for the vocals at all, they are a little too shriek like for my liking, if they were slightly lower key then it would provide the necessary power to back up the arsenal of music on offer. Essentially, ‘Mirroring The Abyss’ is devoid of major consistency, this is a frustrating release. Ideas maybe plentiful, but they don’t necessarily belong on the same album.
