Disastrous Murmur - Marinate Your Meat

Ochimamma -- wow, wow, wow!!! How's that for a review. Oh all right, well that is my first impression. Now let me try to put it into a little more tangible verbal expression of what this MUSIC makes me feel! It's all there folks. Massive guitar riffs, pumping bass and pummeling drums, finished off with growls from the guttural region that can only be interpreted to mean one thing -- pure fucking brutality!!!

What bands to compare them to? How about Exhumed meets Metallica with maybe a little Pantera influence. " DM may be from Austria but I hear remarkable similarities to these American bands. In fact the chord progression in the second track, "Bondage Balls and Cock Dissection" is reminiscent of a song by Nirvana from "In Utero."

Recorded in seven days at Vato Loco Studios, the production of the recording succeeds in bringing out the solid performances of the musicians. Lyrically provocative and great death metal tonality in the vocals, the bass is steady and drummer is solid but not too predictable and manages to make use of the entire kit, and I cannot stress how good the guitar riffs are, with the fourth track "Toxic Trap" being a stand-out example.

These guys keep it interesting. Disastrous Murmur has been around since the late 80's and have undergone some line-up and label changes, with this latest effort "Marinate Your Meat" being their second full-length release since re-forming in 1998, and a long-time coming since their last full-length recording in 2001 -- a long time coming, but well worth the wait.
