Draconian - The Burning Halo

Powerful guitar riffs interwoven with bittersweet melodies and somber piano accompaniment, beauty and beast passionately vocalizing tales of love and loss, war and peace -- that is the sound of Draconian. The Burning Halo is a mixture of doom and goth that serves as a brilliant follow-up to their previous release "Arcane Rain Fell" from 2005. This Swedish band resemble contemporaries My Dying Bride and Opeth, yet they manage to accomplish a unique sound that is aesthetically gripping and epic. It is hard to imagine a more compelling mixture of romance and violence that will surely evoke strong emotion in the ear of any beholder. This release crosses the definition of subgenre and should be praised for the work of art that it truly is.
