Entrapment - Imminent Violent Death

Hailing from Groningen in the Netherlands is Entrapment. Active since 2009 and released several demos, several split albums, compilations and 4 full lengths. This band is a well known name in the Dutch death metal scene and abroad.

All though I revere Entrapment as a band, it is a one man project (Michel Jonker) and live he has a band. "Imminent Violent Death" is his new album and it is massive. He always delivered quality albums and fantastic live shows. Why do I speak in the past? Because he decided to stop after 2 decades of soul crushing old school death metal. All though he stops he still delivered an album that will stand the age of time in my opinion.

8 tracks of purifying death. He likes old school Swedish death metal and that is something that you can hear back in the music. This album starts with the track 'Mortality Unleashed' and that sets the tone! Straight in your face Grave worship with a big Dismember juice on it. The vocals are raw and well understandable grunts that I like very much. Reminds me of Desultory (Swe) and that I like a lot.

From the first till the last song it is filled with straight in your face drumming and the guitar riffs are heavy and aggressive and filled with flaming solos and groove. The negative thing of this album is that it is only 30 minutes. The listening of this album is really fast. From the first till the last song is perfect. Exactly what you want to hear in old school death metal.

Good combination between Grave, Dismember and old Entomed. Production and variety is very nice! Favorite song for me is the 5th song 'Sacrilegious Congregation'. Nasty intro with a sample, and then the banging starts.
