Erythuria - Annihilate To Repent
Erythuria comes from Malta and was formed back in 2003, and if when mentioning about this country you're thinking of Maltese highlights Beheaded and Abysmal Torment, well, you're not far from the truth, as Erythuria includes also vocalist Melchior from Beheaded and former Abysmal Torment drummer Max Vasallo. "Annihilate to Repent" is their debut MCD, 5 brutal and technical death metal tracks introduced by a rather uninspired movie flick cut (it starts promising, but ends with a stupid dialogue). The production could have been better, more powerful, but as this is their first effort you won't have any problems making yourselves an own oppinion on what these guys are up to. The tracks are quite enjoyable, brutal, mostly fast, with some complex rhythms added: rather simple but catchy guitar riffs (sometimes too repetitive - see "Touched by the Gods") garnished with some short solos and leads, fast, almost insane drumming, and very good brutal death metal vocals. The sixth track is very strange, it has nothing to do with death metal, it's an instrumental, calm one that throws abeyance of what will come, maybe a preview of their full-length... To conclude it, Erythuria will appeal to Brutal Death Metal fans, this is a good debut hoping to get noticed by a label. They have the necessary skills and maturity but it's up to their ideas to get this band a level up.
