Esoteric - Subconscious Dissolution Into The Continuum

Esoteric, the UK's dark heart. For many years now this Midlands based band have been inviting us to experience their misanthropic dream scape. Back in 2004 the band released their fourth studio album through Season Of Mist entitled "Subconscious Dissolution Into The Continuum" and saw the band expand their horizons to a galactic measures. You get quite the package with this LP, four lengthy tracks spread over four sides of vinyl and the bands opening offering 'Morphia' is a sombre affair but with brief flourishes of ambiance, an atmospheric undertone that gives Esoteric’s work an other worldly vibe. Their soul wrenching pleas of depressive vocal work ring out to the backing chimes of cavernous, unrelenting doom but now with an added context, an almost peaceful soundscape clinging to one of extreme force.

'The Blood Of The Eyes' is a drawling and darkened ode to bleakness played out through slow, mournful riffs, measured drumming and bass play as well as anguished, growled vocals. 'Grey Day' is equally as harrowing and powerful with no cessation in the bands smothering oppressive mood and to finish with the instrumental musings of 'Arcane Dissolution' has a galactic explosive aggression, a raw power that brings the album to a close in a fitting fashion.

“Subconscious Dissolution Into The Continuum” is pure Esoteric, stunning sounds, vast moods and a broad horizon of vibes.
