Exhumed / Gruesome - Twisted Horror
Exhumed and Gruesome have joined forces to create a 5-pieces split (3 for the first and 2 for the Gruesome) entitled "Twisted Horror" released via Relapse just this month.
Basically we are facing a Matt Harvey vs Matt Harvey. On one hand the story of the Californian death / grind and on the other his tribute band to Death present here with 2 songs ('A Mind Decayed' and 'Led Into The Dark').
I don't know how much this split could serve; in fact Matt cleverly seized the opportune moment to release a very tasty version of his two projects (underlining the fact that he certainly doesn't lack ideas).
Exhumed's songs don't differ much from the band's latest works, and for me it's also good because the songs sound terribly good and in step with the times. Their riffs are always penetrating and the music remains immersive until the end. In a nutshell we would say that the pieces really do their dirty work and nobody will be disappointed.
I have reevaluated the Gruesomes a lot in recent times and this split has given me the opportunity to appreciate them even more. Difficult to get out of the canons of a genre like tributes, but the Gruesomes do it damn well. The spirit and air of "Spiritual Healing" are terribly felt especially in the last song. The riffs are always incisive and granitic and the voice is penetrating and powerful.
Really nice split with two very good projects. Very beautifull!
