Fanthrash - Apocalypse Cyanide

I was a little harsh to their previous output ‘Duality of Things’, but these Polish “thrashers” are continuing on their quest, albeit in an even further shift in direction to what the band name might represent. The songs are much stronger, certainly sonically in the production stakes and there is certainly an element of the arrangements maturing.

The songs stretch further into the realms of progressive thrash from the 90’s with a hefty nod towards Voi Vod, admittedly a band I have never found favour with. There are some mechanised sounding vocals on the first two tracks but the stand out track is the closer ‘Outcasts from Cassiopeia’ which in fact goes more towards bare bones thrash than the former two songs. I still find this band rather confusing and to want of a better word, slightly odd-ball as the arrangements tend to have a lot of things going on at the same time and to my mind it doesn’t always make sense nor does it transpire to a good flow in the release.

Fanthrash continue on their varied musical quest, it is certainly not routine but it is marginally more palatable than their last full length effort but still remains challenging for the listener.
