Firefly - Live By The Day
This band hails from the dark woods from the Netherlands and that is why they choose the moniker Firefly. Firefly started somewhere in the beginning of 2000 with the spirit of the NWOBHM bands. To be honest I don't find the band really that heavy metal. Just think of heavy rock on this new EP. Recorded with a new vocalist, who's something off the track with his monotous signing like James Hetfield, you hear 4 tracks in a up tempo rock style. In the time of the aformentioned era of NWOBHM bands the guitars were a must but the guitars on "Live By The Day" are not convincing. Repeating riffs with no tension at all. This can be more aggressive with real metal leads!
The EP crawls towards the end and then you ask yourself, this is all? The songstructures are without excitement and of average level. I think the band is more fun listening live as this EP is not more than neck nipping instead of banging.
