Foetal Juice - Gluttony
4 years later they apply the same rule on this second full length of them. Only this time my opinion is that they did it a lot better. It is as they managed to blend these two so perfectly that they actually created their own unique style. Cohesive and aggressive in every second.
First track breaks the silence and what an inspired title… 'Take Your Face For A Shit'. What better way to start a record. Short in length (2 minutes) and up-tempo. A grind beat breaks the silence that makes you wanna mosh around yourself. Half way, the grind beat is succeeded by a blasted sec but only to take your mind a bit from the casual grind theme. Once you think they’d carry on blasted, they throw you back to grinding again. Second track underway and those UK ravagers are relentless. Same pattern here only this time they choose to start blasted and then take it down to basics. A more death metal-ish approach here but really keeps your blood pressure high. Their music is really intense. Their riffs are mostly based on grind power chords blended with swirling death metal riffs. Itchy and rabid. The bass guitar is a bulldozer following the lead of the guitars, helping to create a biig wall of sound heavy as a tsunami. The drums keep this stuff together using grind-beats, blast-beats, thrash-beats and in general, we’re talking about a drummer that knows his shit really well and possesses the discipline of how and when. The growler growls and shrieks like there’s no tomorrow.
Songs proceed and it gets obvious that we’re talking about a band meant to play live. Every song is intense and every song makes you wanna headbang and mosh. 12 songs in 38 minutes. 38 minutes of an extremely insane blend of death metal and grindcore, fermented in the nastiest whiskey barrel for over a century. The production amplifies their extremity to another level. Nasty and freakin dirty but on the same time loud and clear enough for everything to be obvious even to the newbies in the scene. Reeks of rot and this is how it should be.
The perfect production to bring out their ferociousness. Trust me, you won’t be able to catch a break. Pedal to the metal with these freaks here. A really violent approach in death metal. Insane, rabid and demented! Making a long story short. "Gluttony" is what Foetal Juice present for 2020 and you’d better try it to your bones man. Definitely one of my best for this year!
