Forcefed Trauma - Enslaved In Hatred

Hardcore death, kinda like Hatebreed maybe or Obituary - somewhere in there - but very lo-fi. Forcefed Trauma feature the standard growling vox and chugging guitars mixed with mostly up-tempo rhythms that diehard fans of the genre have come to appreciate.

"Enslaved In Hatred" could stand a better production quality. It's a sloppy mix to be sure. We're hearing too much snare drum, not enough guitars, and it definitely could use more leads - save for a pentatonic run at the end of "Hit Em Up" and a decent lead at the end of "Blinded By Greed."

I like the sound clips of 'dubya' at the beginning of "Bloodspill" and the pistol firing at the beginning of "Hate Ritual." The lyrics express feelings of misanthropic dissatisfaction and distrust of authority, which is all well in good. The songs are very chanty and make you want to mosh but there's no clever hooks or memorable parts that really stand out.

Overall, "Enslaved In Hatred" is a good enough effort to entertain a diehard fan of the genre, but the bottom line in the DIY culture of metal is better production, dudes! A certain rawness is appreciated but it can't sound too much like a condenser mic recording of the band in the rehearsal room next door, which "Enslaved In Hatred" at times does resemble!!!
