Fractured Insanity - Mass Awakeless
Fractured Insanity play a super technical blend of death metal much akin to a cross breeding of Hate Eternal, Decapitated and Cryptopsy. Their songs are fast and very unrelenting. Hailing from Belgium and releasing this stomper on the legendary, Dave Rotten`s Xtreem Music, this album houses some seriously technical but catchy songs. The production on this is very crystal clear, cold and clinical with the drums being very pulverising but quite processed with triggers. It really does sound like Decapitated on steroids!!! Though its worth saying, executed amazingly so and the beats created here are very interesting. The guitar playing here is awesome i have to say. It covers a wide variety of styles from all out riffing to quite melodic parts, to sweeping leads. Again executed with the utmost precision. I thought the bass could do with being turned up a pinch in the mix as its barely audible in the mix but its the there none the less. Vocals on offer here go from searing highs to guttural lows, leaning more so to the low end side of things but its these small vocal changes that keep the listener interested.
In ways this cd reminds me of mid career, Decrepit Birth before they went all out melodic. It has a nice blend of melody and brutality. Stand out tracks for me are "THE DAMNED" which has some really cool breakdown parts which got my head bobbing along and "INSANITY`S HAZE" which has some awesome blast sections and some rather nice nods to the old school. I think theres something for everyone here but some might say they have heard it all before but let your ears decide that for you because its well worth the listen. There is enough blast sections, breakdowns and melodies to appease just about everyone in the whole tech death metal spectrum.
I have to point out though, i wish these guys had of put as much effort into the cover of the cd as they did with the music for the cover sucks. No offense guys but please if its technical death metal you seek. Look no further than Fractured Insanity!
