Fuck The Facts - Abandoned
Canadian grindcore and a release only 13 mins long, does that sound familiar!? Admittedly, everything I have heard of this band is via split releases with other artists, so with this three track effort Fuck The Facts are totally the point of focus.
‘Endless Emptiness’ has a nice death growl, but before this you have to endure the horrid grind whine that these younger bands do (note: FTF have been around for a long time), although it’s fair to say it’s not a one dimensional number. I don’t know why, but I really find a Paradise Lost melody happening from time to time during this one, yes that’s what I said, it’s not a total grind assault, it has a touch of everything. You will have the blast beats but I find everything from melodic death metal guitar solos to some subliminal black metal riffs. These pieces actually sound much more competent and solid than the grind blasts actually. ‘Disabused’ is a lot more musically expansive, but still retains the intensity that certainly the majority of this digital effort has even with the closer ‘L’impassehan’. This in itself is a little madcap, extreme music for musicians I think is the term here, however, it does end up being a little too sporadic and chaotic.
It’s ok, but I find it is not essential, you can quite easily loose interest after a shorter period of time than what the release actually plays out for. It’s diverse, but perhaps too diverse to be solid grind release.
