Funeral In Heaven/Plecto Aliquem Capite - Astral Mantras Of Dyslexia
It's like walking into a market somewhere in the Middle East. All you can hear is sitar with the hustle and bustle all around you. The further you stroll down the path it seems to get a bit more gritty and deranged. Leaving you with an empty basket and a bizarre taste in your mouth.
This is a split between Funeral In Heaven and Plecto Aliquem Capite. The first half is Funeral In Heaven. It starts out with straight up Ravi Shankar worship. So right off the bat your scratching your head. I feel like I should have brought my meditation mat for this listening session. The album then takes a strong black mellowdrum rock turn. More of a blackened rock album than metal. Gut wrenching vocals along with depressive guitar melodies add up to a solid record. The other half is Plecto Aliquem Capite. It also starts off with a great sitar track. This side of the record is much more depressive with the vocals. Still has that strong rock influence from the black metal side of things. Hard to listen to if your not used to that burning to death vocal style used in bands like Austere or Black Hate.
If you want something different frpm the norm in the black metal scene and your open minded, then this record is for you. Remember your meditation mats for the first track!
