Funeral Path/Torver - Split
Ferocious howling vocals signal the beginning of this new black metal epic as ravenous cloaking blackness ensues through the use of harrowing traditional black metal riffs and furious blast beat drumming which all clash to produce cold, menacing rhythms and aggressive, fast paced depravity of an old school/early Darkthrone (Blaze Under The Northern Sky) nature. This all heralds the arrival of some much anticipated UK black metal from Funeral Path and Torver and the split release itself is set for a physical format through Mordgrimm in the coming months.
As this one rages forward in a torrent of aggression and blitzkrieg there are still moments of a slower nature included that gives way to a more haunting depressive style. The aptly entitled "Manifestations Of The Perverse" has the full on abrasive nature, quick fire pace and fuck you attitude of black thrash, catchy and utterly unstoppable and "From Beyond The Abyss" is a short sharp shock very much in the same vein.
Maniacally fast but with a more twisted, traditional black metal edge, "Torn Alive By Rats" is colder and showcases a slower, more thought provoking stance in places that adds an extra layer of grim fury and intensity from what has come before whilst to finish with "Thy Masters of Old" comes as close to poppy as black metal can with insanely addictive riffs and pummeling blast beats! Be sure to experience this slice of UK black metal savagery and look out for the physical release coming very soon!
