Hemoragy - The Thirst World War

Hemoragy is a french metal band from the subburbs of Paris, since 2002 and composed by two brothers Johannes Musslin (Guitar/Vocals), Steve Musslin (Drums), Basstarde, Lynda Siewicz (Bass); and Victor Rosan (Guitar).

The Crazy Race
The reveal is a very intense moment where rock meets thrash and conjours up some anthemic moments of pure thrash at unpredictable levels. It is frighteningly addictive listening with a good rip roaring vocal that has a solid foundation that bristles with intensity and aptly titled.

The Cockroach Man
This track busily engages, is cleverly written and exploited to the max. Do not get too complacent though, as it infiltrates with pure punch to the nervous system and showcases the band’s extreme talent.

Machination
Expectations have really influenced this track to some degree, to the point that I am thinking ‘hang on, there is more here than meets the eye!’ It has clear rock definitions and vocally reminds me of Bon Scott of AC/DC and it is not difficult to imagine Angus Young working that guitar.

The Coffin Trap
There is a lot going on here with definitive addictive qualities.  Musically it is very disciplined and intense with wider reaching ability to mesmerise. It is more reminiscent of rock as I mentioned before but with a rabid edge that bites.

1518
Dramatic and dark but bristling with light is what I can only describe this track as it unfolds. The chunky riffs are powerful and engaging with the tempo changes adding more intrigue, is to the extreme with the harmonies balanced and strong reaching its amazing climax.

Gallia Comata
Like a virus finding its way through the bloodstream so does this track, its perplexing qualities rampage with a significant splendour. Blistering and ferocious it leaves no stone unturned and leaves the listener with no place to hide.

Los Mariachis De La Muerte
It is very hard not to get caught up with Hemoragy as the guitar takes hold, it excites as the riffs make contact with the aural and bites like a venomous snake, a good punchy bass hook and add a solid conglomerate of drums and this track just comes alive.

Turning Into A Lush
I quite like the title of this track and even more the deftly carved stringed arrangement that comes to life. The vocalist Johannes’s accent presents a sexy edge to the track and I feel will have the ladies reaching for the replay – and if not I defy you to stop listening and see if the words to this track do not remain in your head long after it has finished playing – it will drive you crazy!

Evil Sausage
With some tongue in cheek moments this has to be one of them with a title like ‘Evil Sausage’ you cannot help but allow the track to conjour up some strange imagery. The music is powerful and very serious despite the title and what the images bring. Vocally quite evil on their own and with the added cackling – it’s quite an ‘ear opener’

The Thirst World War
Another play on words although a little more serious than previous.  It has darker and fiercer qualities and the thrash element plays a much bigger part in it – raising the blood to a feverish level, however its circus type breakdowns just adds variety and is a clever idea.

A really enjoyable listen from beginning to end. There is a lot of variety contained within each of the tracks that all hold some form of unusual flavour and imagery. The music has been cleverly crafted and the vocals add that extra spice. The thrash elements are not overdone although I feel it is more a rock orientated album but none the less exciting and addictive with many tracks begging to be repeated.  I love the tongue in cheek aspects mixed with a serious musical quality and with this in mind what we have here is both old hat with a new twist. Although sounding slightly like AC/DC in places it is however very short lived – but who in the right mind does not like AC/DC anyways?

Even the cover has a tongue in cheek feel about it but fits nicely into what the band are putting across in their 10 track monster album.

Picking a favourite track comes hard here as they all hold their own little slant on the proceedings, but ‘The Crazy Race’ ‘The Coffin Trap’ ‘Turning into a Lush’ ‘Evil Sausage’ and ‘The Thirst World War’ are just superb tracks that will warrant repeats – for me anyways.

Cleverly composed and executed Hemoragy complete with female bassist are unique and have brought something different to an old table – I find this quite exciting! Never a dull moment with this band!
