Hierophant - The Tome
Xathagorra Mlandroth (all music, instruments & vocals) is the man behind this funeral doom project. This album is a collection of material released in 1994, 1996 and 2000. I am not familiair with the man and his work so going blank into this disc.
What I hear is ultra slow distorted guitars with almost no rhythm as the powerchords fade away after every hit. Very minimalistic and nihilistic. Gutteral voices and heavy drums complete the ultra heavy sloom tunes.
Hierophant is not your average doom metal and for a limited group of people which is the reason that it is released in very limited pressing. And for those interested in the music Xathagorra writes in the booklet: "Doom is something to be experienced, not just listened to...". So before you kill yourself get yourself in trance with "The Tome".
