Hirax - Assassins Of War

Legendary thrash band from Orange County, California, Hirax is the long-time project of frontman Katon W. DePena, the only remaining original member. In the 80's Hirax shared the stage with such giants of the metal world as Slayer, Metallica and Exodus (Paul Baloff replaced DePena as the singer for Hirax for a brief period). Hirax disbanded until 2000, and since then they have released four albums with the latest being "Assassins Of War." On "Assassins" Hirax have definitely re-captured the fury of the thrash-metal sound of the 1980's. Listening to this album is definitely on par with let's say "Pleasures of the Flesh" by Exodus, or any of the work of Nuclear Assault or S.O.D.

Hirax were part of the original Metal Blade catalog and they also contributed a track to the "Angelican Scrape Attic" compilation which was the first ever record released by Earache Records. Hirax are now signed to Black Devil Records where these thrash-metal warriors are sure to write many more chapters to their ever-impressive continuing saga.
