Immanifest - Qliphotic

Immanifest are one of those bands that can sound so much like one band in a way, but at the same time sound like they take the best of that band and make it better. From the opening of their self released EP, one may feel like the instrumentation sounds too much like Dimmu Borgir with the way the guitars are layered and the keyboard/ orchestral feel. "Revelations..." features excellent melody and production, but it is the vocals that really give the band its feel. Deep, demonic, and evil, they border more along death metal than black metal, and this is what separates them from Dimmu. "Thaumiel" is their best song simply because they add haunting bell samples and a keyboard solo that is pretty impressive and different from the other tracks. Finally there is "Among The Dead" which has a melodic introduction before leading into a thick, chugging rhythm that suits the whole symphonic/ melodic blackened death metal genre perfectly. Again, the grunts can be hard to understand sometimes, but they add just the right amount of 'evil' to the band along with they keyboards, which go more for 'Halloween' themes rather than cheesy, symphonic overuse. For a EP debut, this is a very strong start and an excellent beginning to this band.
