Infector - Let The Infection Begin

From the land of cigars and salsa a band emerged influenced by whole lot of thrash metal bands. I'm talking about the Cuban thrash metal band Infector. Little is known about this young band but the members (Jose, Fabio and Franh) have created a full on no rest thrash metal style with no slowing down.

With their debut album "Let The Infection Begin" Infector made a statement, 80's thrash metal is not dead and it can be revived again. Let's begin with their first song 'Shrine Of Desperation'. After a brutal and powerful intro the vocals are added to the music and after that everything is just straight forward till the end of the song. The combination of the drums and guitars is very well and the pounding bass guitar lines are just finishing the whole song off. Also the combination of thrash and backing vocals is amazing. The cooperation between the rhythm and solo guitar in this song is a simple but very effective one.

'Fallout Of Mankind' is also a song that I like. It begins with what I call a chopdown and unleashes hell after, the drums in this song is a classical example about how different grooves can change the sound in the song. Again the speed and brutality make this song very intense. With again a chopdown in the middle of the song, the solo kicks in and gives it a little more punch. With a combination like this in a song one might think that they are listening to an 80's thrash metal song but again this is Infector and the members are too young to have made music in the 80's.

A song about posers is something that you will hear often and the title 'Poser Holocaust' would say enough. Although I don't like political correctness I would watch out with a tittle like this but just lets go to the music. It starts with a drum fill and after that the chaos strikes again, the change between different rhythms and fills plus fast guitars are the basis for this song. In the middle of the song there is a breakdown but after that chaos and violence is again the fate of the poser. The bass guitar also owns a small piece of this song at the end, and after that 'Poser Holocaust' is finished of by the guitars.

Overall this album is very well mixed and mastered with a raw edge. The vocals and clean vocals are very well recorded and sung. Both the guitars are also very nice and the rhythm and solo guitar replace each other perfectly. What I also noticed is that the bass guitar is just pounding the riffs like a beast it is really the hidden energy on this album and and just makes everything work better. What surprises me is that the musicians are from Cuba, a not well known country for metal and that the band members are young but already have put out an album with this, making use of every skill they have. I have a little advice though, there is very little information about the band Infector, try to get some more on the internet it will help you with getting concerts and will make you more interesting for other bands to play or record with. I'm looking forward to hear more of these guys and if you are an 80's speed/thrash metal fan I can recommend listening to the music from Infector.
