Iugulatus - Satanic Pride
This Polish black metal band Iugulatus second full length album, and decent it is too! Five tracks of black metal coming in at over forty two minutes long, not to shabby. This outfit have been together since 2009 but they seem to be having a change of name and it all seems a bit up in the air!! Anyway what do we get here, well we have five tracks of well played black metal and a couple of the tracks are of the epic variety, coming in at over ten minutes, sometime this works for me others not so. It kicks off well with the title track “Satanic Pride” which has some good guitar work from Matys and Markiz, who also plays in Polish band Deep Desolation, busy guy! Balrog does the vocals and is pretty decent too, nice growly ones and some great evil raspy style ones too, the bass player Morbid M and drummer Wojtass ably back the band up with some really good riffing and beats. It s the drummer Wojtass who has left them and a name change is on the cards for the band too. The album is pretty decent and if it is the last under this name is a fitting one to finish with, this band are a very good black metal band and hopefully will not be the last time we hear from them in whatever form they take.
Not a bad track on this release to be honest and my favourites are the title track which is a great start to the album and sets it up very nicely, “Beware the Flame From Undun” is another personal favourite with a great galloping riff on this epic track which comes in at just under eleven minutes and shows the bands worth, some great guitar work again on this. Not a bad song on the release to be honest and it is well worth checking them out if you can, Poland produces so many top notch bands its unreal and this one can be added to the list of goodies from Poland!!
I would recommend this album to anyone who is interested in well played black metal it is a very good album indeed and hopefully not the last from this outfit n whatever guise they continue as. Look forward to hearing more from this band.
