Kause 4 Konflikt - No Better Friend - No Worse Enemy

Despite having the band name like a late nineties nu-metal group of pansies, Paris'  offensive warcore preachers Kause 4 Konflikt easily scoop up valuable aspects with this feisty, bitter album. 'No Better Friend - No Worse Enemy' contains some of the most brutal anthems released in modern years, combining death metal with hardcore yet somehow avoiding the deathcore genre.

Blaring intro 'The Call' soon escalates Kause's musical temper with this brief eruption of maniacal guitar build-ups and a ferocious gang-chant, eventually leading into 'Holes Of Emptiness'; Thunderous riffs drive the music to easily wrong its apparent hardcore genre, because this track is death metal fuelled throughout. 'Overwatch' develops almost a thrash-attack towards the album, instrumentally boosting the record's variation. The more the album progresses, the less I begin to think there's a lack of actual hardcore involvement. Apart from the occasional gang-shout vocal style this album reeks of death metal, especially in the vocal department.

The issue with an album like this is definitely under looked with the lack of variety. Instrumentally brilliant and surprising, but vocally boring and dis-tasteful. Production really helped me decide where to place this band in terms of being your average death metal band, because if it wasn't for the tip-top production standards I wouldn't really bother with Kause 4 Konflikt again. Having said that, 'No Better Friend - No Worse Enemy' serves a purpose initially, and does entertain truthfully. Tracks such as 'Red Mist' and 'Geneva Memorandum' seize the album within it's prime moments, successfully planting the album's rating at a strict three out of five, while I wait for the band to capture their designated sound on a future release.
