Lectern - Percept Of Delator

Lectern are a four-piece band from Rome, Italy and "Percept Of Delator" is their second full-length album after the debut "Fratricidal Concelebration" from 2015.

I haven't listened to their first record but this one that is being reviewed turns out to be a crushing slab of satanic oldschool death metal played in the best possible way.

First thing that makes impression is the vocals of Fabio Bava - deep, furious growls sounding like a cross between Aad Kloosterwaad (Sinister) and Frank Mullen (Suffocation). Lectern are influenced mainly by the dark diabolical death sound of Sinister mixed with the straightforward US extreme metal aggression of Cannibal Corpse and Deicide. The guys are very good musicians and provide tons of smashing guitar riffs and technical drumming with numerous tempo changes.

There are some thrash passages here and there but overall "Percept Of Delator" is a top-notch satanic death metal record. The sound production is on a very good level and there isn't really anything to criticise this album for. Lectern are a must hear for everyone who is into high quality death metal.
