Lugnasad - Smell Of A Grey Sore

Everytime I hear a new band from France I get excited. That place cranks out awesome metal on a regular basis. Lugnasad give us a nice and gritty treat here on their debut album.

The beginning of the album sounds like straight up Dissection worship. The overall production and some song writing definitely reminds me of Storm Of The Light's Bane. It has really crisp production, while still retaining that raw aspect. The kick drum sounds flawless. The vocals are really distressed sounding and agonizing. Great guitar harmonies throughout the entire record will entrance youur interest. A more dynamic sound with the direction of the music. Tons of melody with the guitars. It would be cool if they had some more extended passages that were drawn out sounding. The vocals do balance out the melodic guitars but it would be nice to hear some harsher tones. Everything about this album is tasteful. The on point guitar solos are the cherry on top.

Crawling and dragging you through the endless dismal bog we call life. Crying out one last time before the inevitable death rattle.
